Join us as we discuss why we are founding a local Suffolk County chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America- hear our goals, vision, and strategy. We will discuss as a group what we all think socialism is and how the DSA is different than the Democratic Party and other liberal or progressive organizations. We will also decide as a group what campaign(s) we will work on. Finally, after the meeting we will have a social hour with refreshments- since we are just starting out & have no budget, we are encouraging a finger-food potluck type social hour!
The DSA is a family-friendly organization, therefore folks of all ages are welcome and encouraged at this event. This event is wheelchair accessabile.
Suffolk County Democratic Socialists is the Long Island local of Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist organization in the United States with over 20,000 members.
Suffolk-DSA is run by its members and activists who are working together to revitalize the left on Long Island, nurture solidarity, create community, and build coalitions to fight for reforms that challenge the 2 party political system and improve the lives of working people.
